Advertise for just £1

You can advertise in any of the six 125 by 125 advert spaces for just £1 per thousand impressions*. All spaces are shown "above the fold" on every page of the site.

The 125 format and the location of the adverts has been selected precisely because of how well it attracts attention. Although the performance of the advert is largely dependant on the graphic your provide I regularly see a good to very good return on investment (ROI).

FAQ for the Thanet Star £1 Advert

What is an impression?
Each time the server detects that an advert has been shown to a unique human being a single impression is counted. To protect your investment repeat views in to small a time scape are ignored as are other potentially bogus or failed requests.
How many clicks will I get per unit of a thousand impressions?
That entirely depends on your advert. Generally things like pretty girls or boys, fast cars and cute animals are considered to be good at attracting people. Animated adverts are often effective but it is down tot he design skills of the person that makes the advert and how well it is targeted towards the people that might be interested in your offering.
How long will one unit of impressions run for?
This depends again on the advert as well as a number of other factors. We can, on request cause your adverts to be spread out evenly over a give time scale or show them as fast as possible (default). Adverts that do not attract clicks will be shown with a lower priority than those that do attract clicks to provide better value all round.
Can I pay by cheque?
Due to the rising cost of banking it is no longer cost effective to offer our current low price and allow payments by cash or cheque. Payment via credit or debit card, however, offers you greater protection and is significantly faster than any other form of payment.
How will I know how my ads are doing?
Once your ad is running you will be emailed updates to alert you when your remaining impressions are running low. This is done by the same system that will deliver your ads and create weekly statistics (available on request).
What's your maximum capacity?
As of March 2008 we had sold roughly 75% of the advertising capacity but by May 2008 that same volume represented around 60% of the capacity. This was because over that two month period the number of people visiting the site increased. In the event that we reach 95% of capacity we will no longer accept new customers.
Can I use targeting?
To a degree. By default the server is set up to limit by time of day, number of impressions shown per person per session and by common factors like web browser. However, if you request limits that are too strict your daily impression rate may not be achieved. If this is happening we will contact you to discuss other options.
