Where to get a carpet?

I'd want to ask you guys and gals for some advice.

I have a room 14 foot by 12 foot that requires some fairly resilient carpet. Including getting the carpet itself (and gripper rods, underlay and fitting) what would you say a fair price is and where would you advise that I go to obtain that fair price?

I had been looking around in quite a few places, mostly local shops first, then on a whim I went to Allied Carpets up Westwood (near Staples) and they have a big sale on. I got some great carpet 4mx4.6m (13footx15foot) for only �42. That was the cheapest though.

You can buy gripper rods in Wilkensons for �3.99, Wickes for �4.99, and Focus �5.99. These come in 8x5ft packs.

Underlay will be your problem as most shops make a lot of money on these. I bought mine online at http://www.carpet-underlay-... which worked out at about �2 a square meter for felt underlay.

Of course I fitted this all myself and you will need a carpet knee kicker, stanley knife etc to do the job.

If you don't want to do this yourself then I'd recommend Olivers Carpets on Ramsgate Road near Up & Running, and I reckon they could do all this and fit it for you (with cheap carpet) for around �130-�150.
