TDC needs "Fresh Blood" say Lib-Dems
The Liberal Democrats are calling for fresh blood to get Thanet out of the mess that it is in.
Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidates George Cunningham (North Thanet) and Russ Timpson (South Thanet) are calling for political renewal in Thanet following the resignation of Clive Hart as Chairman of Thanet District Council and the spate of resignations that followed.
Julia George's Radio Kent Phone-In yesterday saw a succession of contributors bemoan the miserable state of current Thanet politics. George Cunningham and Russ Timpson are responding by calling for fresh blood to get Thanet out of the mess it is in.
Next year, Thanet will see local elections held the same day as the General Election on 7th May. We need now for a new generation of potential local councilors to come forward. Hundreds of new people are needed. This is the chance to make a difference, to turn around Thanetís fortunes and prospects for the future. Said Russ Timpson.
George Cunningham echoed these sentiments saying:
We are calling in particular for new people who have not been involved in politics. Thanet desperately needs renewal. Letís do something about it rather than complain. Power is in the hands of the people and the initiative must come from there. Change can only happen from within.
George and Russ will set a date soon for an open meeting in Thanet for those interested to step forward and find out how they can get more involved.
