Simon Day

I have been informed that The Simon Day application was taken to the local government ombudsman who found no fault with the decision. Apparently this report might be available to the public. Anyone know anything?

We must challenge the anguish and misery caused to so many of our
citizens by unchecked maladminstration committed by local authorities,
which in so many cases is being ignored and endorsed by the Local
Government Ombudsman. The suffering of those who complain to the LGO
is often increased immensely on experiencing further injustice from the very
body that is meant to be an impartial watchdog.

Anyone can search the Local Government Ombudsman's website for a report. Unfortunately, they normally use false names in their reports so you can't use a complainants name in your search. However, you can use the Council concerned as the search criteria. If you use 'Thanet' as a search term it returns only one report and that's from 2006.

I can almost guarantee that the Ombudsmen would not have issued a report in the case you mention. They don't have to write a report if they decide there is no maladministration. All they do is send a letter to the complainant.
