Thanet Star - actively improving Thanet one idea at a time

Review: Westwood Cross MacDonalds.

I recently lowered my standards and had a McDonalds. This is my experience of the McDonald's (drive through) in thanet near Westwood Cross.

For reasons I'd rather not go into I found myself at Westwood Cross in an entirely unsuccessful quest to find a solution to a household requirement. Having had a light breakfast and it being well into the afternoon I caved into temptation and had a quaterpounder.

The drive though was supprisingly full and despite the dirty nature of the carpark that surrounded it was reasonably clean. The staff were about all you could expect from people that are paid basic minimum and I personally witnessed a large number of freshly cooked fries encounter the floor. This was swept inefficiently and slowly away but to their credit this was done almost right away.

The staff member that sureved me had all the freildiness and warmth of an indifferent rattlesnake and it was clear that I was one more demanding irritation between her and knocking off time. My food was swiftly dumped upon a try and handed to me and it was made clear that I was no in the way and goin to get no more attention.

So bereft of a member of staff I was forced to that age old trick of using my eyes to find the source of straws. This took a small amount of time and left me standing there feeling like a twit.

A straws, ketchup and so forth located I retreated outside to eat.

Customer Service: 2 out of 10.

Customer service was clearly not too hot but how was the food?

Did I mention it was busy in there? That this was reflected in the food which was still hot.

The fries were, as ever, excessively salty but they were hot for at least the first sixty second. Likewise the burger was not soggy, limp and cold. This was a nice supprise as was finding that the veg still had the ability to go crunch when I bit it.

However the side was well and truely let down by the chocolate milkshake which lacked something - chocolate flavour.

Note to food places everywhere: You must, must, must add the chocolate flavour to your milkshake or it is infact vanilla flavour.

Final food score a disappoiting 5 out of 10.

In short the chances of my eating there again diminished from unlikely to probably never again.

Overall experience: 3 out of 10.

Google says that the address of this (24 hour) McDonalds is Margate Road, Westwood, Boradstairs, Kent, CT10 2QD and the phone number is 01843 865852. However as I would recomend that people eat anywhere but this particular branch of McBadFood I am not sure what use that is to anyone.

What an insightful and inspired article! What can we look forward to next? A daring analysis of KFC? An undercover exposure of Burger King? I wonder what motivated this pointless 'review'; did McDonalds reject you for the role that the job centre forced you to apply for?

Why the burning anger "Sam"? Surely my motivation was sufficiently clear - I had a bad consumer experience and wanted to share it.

Should I assume that you closely associate yourself with this McFood outlet? Perhaps you are a manger there, an investor in this franchise or the owner?

Regardless of your motivation your assumption that all that blog in Thanet are unemployed and unfit even for a McJob is rude and offensive and yet does nothing to further the interests of McFood Westwood.

There is a known bug with the Thanet Directory where the category links are not working. This is a fault with the URL parser / builder which doesn't cope well with custom language keys. I did not write it and I am working on a replacement. Everything else should be fully operational.
I've been adding new items to the Directory of Everything in Thanet. Keep the reviews and votes coming in and I'll keep adding items. Message me if you want something added that's not already there.
I've been working on this for a while and now here it is The Thanet Directory. It's a work in progress that you can add to.
