Ramsgate to reopen to live animal exports

Thanet District Council have been compelled to allow live exports to resume.

The BBC reported 18 hours ago that the temporary suspension of live animal exports from the Port of Ramsgate has been overturned by the High Court.

Like wise Farmers Weekly reported the story saying that the move was welcomed by farmers who are preparing to supply thousands of sheep to France for the Muslim festival of Eid.

Thanet District Council are expected to launch an appeal and it is also reported that there may be compensation sought from the council for lost earnings during the ban.

Good news for DFL protesters, SE trains have anounce a 10 return HS fare to margate during the winter. Not sure if you can use it from margate to london though. Also free tickets this week end:

Southeastern is also supporting the Portas Pilot re-launch of Margate, by offering the programme 500 free high speed tickets from London to Margate this coming weekend, 20 October 2012.
