Many of us do know the difference between affect and effect but still make such slip up when typing a quick comment and our brains are already on to the next thing... actually, I quite often type as I speak then have to change every word to make it read-able. And several times I have made the mistake of emailing out the first draft of notes instead of the final version - making me look barely literate!
