Fort Hill Controversy
The Thanet Extra has tucked the story away on page 7 because the trail of a drug addict and the opening of a large gambling centre were much more important. The headline reads "Anger grows over KCC 'arrogance'" which is uncannily accurate. Given the amount of "power" that the district council has handed to the county council (not to mention money) what else could we have expected. Any indication of "consulting" the public is in reality about as honest as the unpublicised consultations of the district council. It seems both groups are equally as keen on doing whatever they want rather than spending time and effort on finding out what people in Thanet actually think.
It also comes as no surprise that the tame newspapers have given Cllr Sandy Ezekiel a sub heading of his own. (Why do our local papers never wish to disagree with the "leader"?) The fact that Cllr Sandy Ezekiel should never be allowed to talk to the press (or the public for that matter) is evident from the fact that once more they have him twittering on (almost off-topic) not about the subject but about "The Labour Group" who he seems to think "have been fully informed". Cllr Sandy Ezekiel should perhaps be briefed on the fact that this briefing is exactly what has gotten people so upset.
Care to share your opinion?
Do you think Cllr Sandy Ezekiel has a point at all? What is your opinion on Cllr Sandy Ezekiel's statement? Is he skirting the issues or "addressing the real issue"?
What are your feelings on the road changes? Do you think there would be a local protest able to change this? Do you care about the results?
KCC have been accused of breaking their promise of consultation. How do you feel about the current lack of consultation? (not to mention the chances of one actually happening?)
Cllr Hart is frightened that buildings will be put up on the land that would no longer be road. This would probably spoil the view. What is your take?
