Business owners beg UKIP council not to destroy their livelihoods
A group of 22 small businesses are calling on the UKIP-run Thanet District Council to reconsider a sell-off that would mean closure for all 22 enterprises.
TDC have taken the decision to put the Thanet Enterprise Units (TEU) site in Broadstairs, Kent up for auction on February 6th.
The small businesses, some of which have been there for as long as 30 years, claim that they were not informed about the decision to sell the properties and that the district council have ignored inquiries for the last three years.
Collectively, these enterprise units represent £30,000 of yearly income to the council and generate approximately £800,000 worth of business in Thanet. UKIP are willing to sacrifice this for a one-off payday.
According to a Facebook page set up to protest the sell-off, UKIP leader Chris Wells has consistently ignored letters and emails from the business owners.
