Can the Turner Centre save Thanet?

Yes, but is it art? This is the question being asked right now. Not just of the Fulton "walk" that nobody showed up for but the entire Turner centre itself.

I would love to say that a lot of people are asking it but the "important" event in question appears to have been under (or un) advertised the audience allegedly being mostly or all press ganged students. This is not quite the hordes of art fans we were told to expect.

So how exactly do semi-secret "art" events of questionable quality help to regenerate Thanet? I sat down and did a little maths*.

While I deal with a lot of personal "stuff" and am not in any real state to report here is a round up of what is going on in Thanet.

BBC News - Parents protest at Ramsgate children's home plan

Parents demonstrate against plans to turn offices in Kent into a residential children's home for up boys aged between 11 and 18.

The debate on TDC managing to web cast meetings (at last) takes an odd turn in which the printed media come in for a lashing from a Conservative Party councillor.

BIGNEWS MARGATE: No apology for Tory Boy Simon Moore suggest you try Thanet Times

Just your everyday reporting and commenting on the news from Tony sees (TDC Councillor) Simon Moores accuse Thanet Gazette or the Thanet Times of being factually unreliable.

Some more fires (what a supprise). Apparently this one is suspicious.

Former hotel goes up in flames

More than 40 firefighters have been called to a former hotel in Margate that has gone up in flames. Crews were called to the building on Sweyn Roadjust after 5am today (Saturday). Several floors and the roof of the building, which was being converted intoflats,havecaught light.

According to a message from the facebook group "Save the Britannia Margate" the Brit will be reopening shortly. I don't know much more than that at present but hopefully more news will be forthcoming. Still it seems like good news.

Seed swap fund raiser

Calling All Green fingered Thanet peeps...

Quartet in the Community are holding a seed swap this Saturday (20th) at the Quartet Allotment Project which is to be found just off Brooke Avenue in Garlinge.

This is a fund raiser which will run from 10am until 3pm and local gardeners and alotment holders are invited to come an trade seeds.

Seed swaps are a great way for those who save seeds from year to year to share good yields and to increase the variety within their garden, alotment, window box etc.

However it is not just for those of us with seeds but also for those of us who would like to obtain some seeds to grow. A small donation is equally welcome.

Guest blogger for hire

I have now taken up a new role as in-house guest blogger at a new site.

This blog is run largely for an American audience (particularly the real estate sector) and talks about the things you can do to promote yourself, your blog and your business on line. For those of you who are interested in reading about promotion techniques in a lot more depth than I have been able to cover here you may wish to pop over to go-beyond-mls.com and specifically you might want to comment on my introductory post (or not, suit yourself).

I do not imagine that my status as regular guest blogger elsewhere will impact particularly on my blogging here except that I might or might not talk a bit less about blogging itself.
