Public calls for the resignation of KCC leader

A public petition calling for a "Vote of no confidence" in Paul Carter, the Leader of Kent County Council (KCC), has been started by residents of Kent.

The petition on campaigning site 38 Degrees reached 437 of 500 signatures in just three days.

The petition calls for the Conservative KCC leader, who pulls in almost Ј60,000 a year* in expenses and allowances, to listen to what the people of Kent are saying and not to property developers and goes on to explain because you were voted into office to serve the people of Kent and to do what is best for the people of Kent and not what is best for the property developers.

Stabbed in the back over Manston, says KLM owner

The owner of KLM has used strong language to describe how the company was forced out of Manston and to defend against claims that it had not been financially viable.

Manston Airport

A post has appeared online claiming to contain emails from Boet E.J. Kreiken the Managing Director of KLM Cityhopper regarding what really happened to force KLM to pull out of Manston.

Woah, your fence is on fire...

Was this childish foolishness gone wrong or something more sinister?

flame

At 10:15pm (2215) passers by raised the alarm on spotting a fance alight in Northdown Park Road, Margate. The fence which belongs to Leleham Gap School was well alight and several buckets of water (and the need of a passing young man to urinate) were needed to bring an end to what could have been a very nasty fire.

This reporter and his uncle were passing the school when we noticed the flames. With the help of a passing motorist and some local neighbours the fire was soon damped down and the fire brigade in attendance.

We left the professionals to do their job but could not help but speculate on who might have lit the fire and why.

Was it board kids or something worse? Hopefully we will never know and this will be the last of it.

The fire brigade should be praised on arriving at the scene so quickly. It is good to know that our fire service are so prompt in their response. Well done lads.
