Thanet District Censorship

Tony reports that Thanet District Council have been censoring bloggers from reporting on "public" meetings.

Censorship
Tony who writes the blog "Big News Margate" regularly reports from cabinet meetings. However this Thursday he wrote tonight I was told that I could not write or report on the cabinet meeting.

Having no reason to doubt what Tony has said I would like to enquire from our so called leaders under what law do they claim the right to suppress freedom of speech and more importantly the freedom of the independent press?

As an independent I am already banned from using the press office of our Council and must file Freedom of Information requests which can take an age when our Council wish to suppress information or are feeling especially sheepish about the facts.

The incumbent party hardly has the margin to risk offending the public. I suggest the leader of the council personally get his backside to the nearest internet enabled device and explain himself forthwith.

Well, I can hope right?

What have I been doing?

I've been through a range of life changes lately and have not felt especially like getting into local news.

I blog...
I will continue shortly.

Before I do here is some of what I have been up to.

I have started a new blog covering my weight loss journey I called it My Big Fat Arse (dot com). As a result of this Mr C talked me into going for a 9 mile cross country hike which I somehow survived.

Here is a video using some of the footage I captured during the hike. I'm the one hidden behind the camera.

Community Fun Day AKA Free BBQ (video)

As a counter balance to my earlier grumpy post here is something a bit more uplifting.

A few weeks back New Life Family Church hosted a free fun day which included free BBQ, games and a bunch of other fun activities. If you didn't get along this is what you missed out on.

The Olympics can kiss my ...

Can I just add a big fat, grumpy old git, humbug in the general direction of the Olympics.

I'd like to share the excitement of the moment but the over priced, over bearing and over political nature of the whole thing just leaves me cold.

That's my two penny's worth now for yours.
