HRH The Queen is popping over for tea
Most specifically HRH QE II is due to visit Margate.
Now I know that the cynics will all be asking "why would she want to do that?" But the question we should be asking is: "how can we make the most of this?"
After all how often does top brass royalty come to Thanet (much less the Queen herself)? This is a rare opportunity to see crowds in Margate during the off season.
Margate does not enjoy a lot of attractions to pull people away from the temple of commerce that is Westwood Cross but a visit from the queen could provide a significant one off boost to the area in terms of spending in preparation for the visit and on the day itself. If local businesses can obtain a good slice of the pie that could be enough to pump some life back into things ready for the winter.
Furthermore a visit from the Queen or other high ranking royals is often accompanied by the national press. This means that we as an area have a single opportunity to remind the rest of the UK that we are not only here but in need of a hand please.
