Montefiore Avenue bill hits £20000

The chronicles of the land in Montefiore Avenue continue with the Isle of Thanet Gazette announcing that Thanet District Council (TDC) have spent just shy of half the lands values on legal costs. When one starts to factor for the cost in staff time as well TDC may well have spent more than the value oft he land before it even goes to sale.
The fact that Thanet Council have needed to hire expert help to fight the fairly substantial claims of locals suggests to me that TDC could far better save money by knowing when to quit. Not every fight needs to be fought and not ever battle needs to be won.
The very reason for this legal battle is that (Tory dominated) TDC is desperate to make up money that it has been over spending and the current round of sell-offs seems to be costing more than it is raising. Would it not be cheaper if TDC cut costs like any sensible organisation?
